A 12-week pilot study by Chinese researchers demonstrated that Hair Revival proved more effective than a best-selling nutritional supplement on measures of hair growth and self-reported satisfaction. This study follows on the heels of previous research documenting hair growth benefits of Hair Revival in an earlier placebo-controlled pilot study (Pilot Study Supports Hair Revival Benefits – Isagenix Health).

Study Design

The scientists recruited 14 healthy adult men and women with self-reported hair loss. The subjects were divided into two groups of seven: One group consumed Hair Revival, and the other consumed the competitor supplement. Subjects consumed each product according to each product’s directions for use. At baseline (week 0), week 8, and week 12, subjects were evaluated using sophisticated haircare technologies for hair diameter, hair loss, and hair density.

Additionally, at weeks 8 and 12, subjects completed a self-assessment addressing their perceived hair quality by responding to a panel of considerations, including hair thinning, hair loss, hair volume, and scalp conditions. Subject responses included “disagree”, “agree”, “strongly agree”, or “very strongly agree”.

Increased Hair Diameter and Reduced Hair Loss

Compared to the competitor, Hair Revival statistically increased hair diameter at week 8 (29% vs. 13%), while there was no statistical difference by week 12 (23% vs. 27%, respectively). Hair loss was significantly reduced by Hair Revival (61%) compared to 22% for the competitor. Although both products increased hair density (5% for Hair Revival, 6% for the competitor), neither was statistically significant.

Subjective responses from Hair Revival subjects were also better than the competitor. For example, 83% of Hair Revival users responded with “agree” or better when asked if hair thinning was reduced, whereas 57% of the competitor responded similarly. For “reduced hair loss,” 100% of Hair Revival users responded “agree” or better compared to 71%. Questions of hair volume, scalp itchiness, and scalp oiliness resulted in “agree” or better responses of 83% for each consideration by Hair Revival users. The competitor’s values were 71%, 43%, and 86%, respectively.
