To say there are plenty of options when it comes to meal replacement shakes is somewhat of an understatement—there are a ton to choose from. Isagenix offers superior meal replacement shakes in IsaLean Shakes, even having been clinically studied for safe weight loss and improving health. But when others ask you to compare your choice of Isagenix to other shakes, what should you look for and how should you respond?
Start with the science
Not many other meal replacement shakes have clinical support behind them. But since Isagenix collaborated with researchers at University of Illinois at Chicago, IsaLean Shakes can be said to be backed by science. Two different groups of test subjects consumed either IsaLean Shakes (as part of Shake Days) or a food-based healthy diet. At the end of ten weeks, the subjects who followed the Isagenix system with IsaLean Shakes had lost more weight, more fat, more visceral fat, and had better improved health biomarkers. And compliance was better with Isagenix, too. The study was published in two peer-reviewed journals and provides strong support for the effectiveness of having IsaLean Shake as a regular part of your diet (1,2).
Look at the macros
Macronutrients—aka carbs, protein, and fat—are calorie-containing nutrients that fuel the many functions of the body. A good meal replacement will have a healthy balance of these, in addition to a good dose of fiber. Some meal replacements may advertise their supposed rank over others with their “low-fat” or “low-carb” status, but these will most likely leave you feeling hungry again soon after consumption. If you want a meal replacement to do its job, you need something like IsaLean Shake that provides 24 grams of protein, 24 grams of carbs, 6 grams of fat, and 8 grams of fiber along with all the necessary micronutrients (vitamins and minerals). It’s a low-glycemic meal-replacement that allows for steady blood sugar control and staying fuller between meals (3).
Protein matters: dose, type, and quality
Speaking of satiety, protein is known to play a big part, especially when embarking on a reduced calorie diet—more protein will keep you feeling fuller (4). Studies also show that the typical Western diet tends to not be ideal for protein distribution and that consuming about 20 to 40 grams of protein at each meal leads to better weight management and increased muscle synthesis (5,6).
IsaLean Shakes are packed with 24 grams of protein (or IsaLean Pro is a higher protein meal replacement option with 36 grams), mostly from undenatured whey protein that has a high concentration of branched-chain amino acids, particularly leucine, which is considered the main signal in stimulating muscle synthesis while preventing muscle breakdown (7,8). No other protein has more research behind it showing superiority for muscle building, fat burning, and healthy weight management than whey (9,11).
The quality of protein is important, too. When whey protein is undenatured, it means that the natural folds within the protein are kept intact when they enter your body and are possibly able to perform more immune-enhancing and antioxidant-boosting functions (12).
Quality is key
It’s not just the high-quality protein that makes IsaLean Shakes so good. Since day one, Isagenix has led with “No-Compromise” quality, meaning that no corners are cut in selecting and testing raw materials, following the appropriate regulatory guidelines, and verifying that the finished products meet purity and composition standards. You just can’t find that with every company and meal replacement shake. Sometimes you do get what you pay for and there’s likely a reason why some shakes may seem like a really great value (aka cheap price). To be sure that every IsaLean Shake you consume is only the best, Isagenix tests every raw ingredient before it’s made into shake and then has third-party labs confirm the quality and potency on finished products as well.
No artificial flavors, colors, and sweeteners
What you can rely on with Isagenix is no use of artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners in any products. Why any meal replacement that’s designed to nourish your body would include these is beyond us. IsaLean Shake’s wholesome goodness is only sweetened with low-glycemic, natural fructose (in amounts equivalent to what’s in a medium-sized orange) and natural flavors. The additional carbs in the shake are there in just the right amounts to provide you with energy, not in an excess that would result in spiking your blood sugar.
Isagenix is holistic
In the game of health, a good meal replacement shake is just part of the puzzle. Assisting the body in strengthening physical and mental performance under stress, and getting certain targeted nutrients also contribute to optimal health. Isagenix provides systems of products that work synergistically in achieving health goals such as weight loss, healthy aging, and energy and performance.
Certainly there are other high-quality meal replacement shakes on the market, but with all that Isagenix is and provides, why would you choose anything else?
